| A fragment of the Battle Flag, 12th Regt Miss Volunteers Harris Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia |
| Article copied from the Natchez Democrat, June, 1882 describing the address given by Capt. F. J. V. LeCand, regarding the actions of Lieut. A. Jarvis, the flagbearer for the Regiment, during a battle in August, 1864. It reads that, when Lieut. Jarvis realized that capture was inevitable, he hid the flag in his clothing and later, after capture, he divided it into small pieces and distributed it among the men of his company. This is how the Wilson family came to be in possession of the fragment pictured above. |
