Cabin of Fereby "Granny" Dearman Bounds, constructed in the early 1800's. Her cabin was built with wooden pegs; it has had additions made to it. This was where she lived last, her original home was on Black Creek. Mrs. Bounds died in 1850. ~~~ To reach Granny Bounds' cabin: From Poplarville, take Hwy. 26 east to US 49 at Wiggins; go north on US 49 to Brooklyn. Take the Brooklyn turnoff (Old Hwy. 49 East on your right, after crossing Black Creek) to Brooklyn. On the turnoff to Brooklyn, you'll find another Black Creek bridge, a long cement bridge. Turn right onto Main Avenue. Go straight on Main Avenue through Brooklyn, crossing 4th Avenue, Old Hwy. 49 East and the railroad track. Go to your right at a Y (cemetery on the right and school on left) with sign for Ash Nursery. Stay on Ash Nursery Road; cross a long cement bridge. Take the first left (Pete Anderson Loop); stay on the blacktop road about 1 mile to a little settlement. Go straight on Pete Anderson Loop about 1.5 to 2 miles. Granny Bounds' cabin is the first old log house on your left.
