Granny Bounds' Cabin
Picture of the Bounds' cabin and directions were contributed
by her 3-g-granddaughter, Mary Anne Hammond.
Cabin of Fereby "Granny" Dearman Bounds, constructed in the early 1800's.
Her cabin was built with wooden pegs; it has had additions made to it.  This
was where she lived last, her original home was on Black Creek.  Mrs.
Bounds died in 1850.

To reach Granny Bounds' cabin:
From Poplarville, take Hwy. 26 east to US 49 at Wiggins; go north on US 49
to Brooklyn.  Take the Brooklyn turnoff (Old Hwy. 49 East on your right,
after crossing Black Creek) to Brooklyn.  On the turnoff to Brooklyn, you'll
find another Black Creek bridge, a long cement bridge.  Turn right onto Main
Avenue.  Go straight on Main Avenue through Brooklyn, crossing 4th Avenue,
Old Hwy. 49 East and the railroad track.  Go to your right at a Y (cemetery
on the right and school on left) with sign for Ash Nursery.  Stay on Ash
Nursery Road; cross a long cement bridge.  Take the first left (Pete
Anderson Loop); stay on the blacktop road about 1 mile to a little
settlement.  Go straight on Pete Anderson Loop about 1.5 to 2 miles.
Granny Bounds' cabin is the first old log house on your left.  Please ask
permission before pulling into the driveway or taking pictures.
