Election Day, 1952
Waiting in line at the polling place - The juxtaposition of the nuns and the Dixie Beer sign in this photo makes it one of my all-time favorite finds.  I would've known this was New Orleans no matter where I ran into this image!
(The man in the photo below, eating a po-boy on the stoop, while
reading the
New Orleans Item would've been a good clue, too. :-)
The banner on the wall in these photos reads "Broad Street Carnival & Pleasure Club," but they were, also, clearly interested in politics!
With its close proximity to the poll, Mariano's Superette
probably did a brisk business on election day.
