The Old (Old) Governor's Mansion Baton Rouge, LA |
The Governor's Mansion constructed during the term of Huey P. Long, in 1930, has been referred to as "the old Governor's Mansion" since the newest mansion was built in 1964. But, before Gov. Long's time, there was a much older version and it is pictured above in a photo taken in 1906. It was originally built for businessman Nathan King Knox, but served as the official residence of the governor from 1887 til 1929, when it was demolished to make way for the "new" 1930 version. |
