|Rebecca Carmichael Fairly's Family|
|Rebecca Carmichael, a daughter of my 2-g-grandparents, Daniel and Nancy McCormick Carmichael, was born in Marion County, South Carolina. She married Archie Fairly in Jefferson County, Mississippi and they raised their family there, near the Scottish settlement of Union Church. The details of Rebecca's
family can be found on
Nancy Carmichael's Family page.
The photos and information below are thanks to my newly found cousin, David Fairly, a descendant of Archie and Rebecca's. I am very grateful for the photographs, especially the photo of Rebecca's tombstone. I've looked for the gravesites of Daniel and Nancy's children in Jefferson County, but have only been able to find my g-grandmother, Flora Carmichael Garrett's tombstone, none of her siblings. Because of David, I now know that, after Archie's death, Rebecca moved to Texas. A mystery solved and a g-g-aunt's burial place found.......thank you, David!
|David has located the graves of 3 of Rebecca's brothers and one of their
children in the Gillett Cemetery. For photos, go to the

| From David's notes:
Sometime after Archie Fairly's death, Rebecca left Jefferson County, MS, with her daughters, Flora, Sarah and Nancy Naomi and moved to Waco, TX. By 1900, she and the girls, except for Nancy Naomi, were in Gillett, Karnes County, TX. Nancy Naomi married in Waco and remained there. David believes Rebecca chose Gillett because some of her Carmichael family had settled there. Upon completion of his studies at Ole Miss, Daniel Hugh Fairly joined his sisters in Gillett.
Daniel Hugh married Lula Dromgoole and had two sons, Robert Branch and Daniel Monroe. Their picture is below.
My new-found cousin, David, is the son of Robert Branch Fairly.
